(Lois is leaning over her desk and Clark glances up)

Clark starts to lower his glasses for a *better* look.
AngelCK: No! That's wrong!
DevilCK: Come on...just one little peek!
AngelCK: Clark. What would she think if she knew what you were doing?!
DevilCK: She won't know!

Lois turns around and smiles at Clark. He grins back embarrassedly.

Maggie's Mouthful --parting is such sweet sorrow edition
by Maggie (Maggie13@bellsouth.net)

Sorrow--deep distress and regret (as over the loss of something loved)

Sweet sorrow. What a concept. Never quite got it till about
5 seconds ago, when I had to think of a subtitle for this column
and it just popped into my head. How could sorrow possibly be
sweet?

Well, after a lot of pondering and very little actual column writing
I have decided to turn in my inkwell, hang up my hat, and give in
to the inevitable. This is it. My last hurrah. I *think* I know how
Clark felt when he was leaving for New Krypton with no clue as to
when he would be back, if ever.

I've been sitting at my computer, staring at the screen for about
ten minutes now, trying to find a way to put into comprehensible
words what this experience has meant to me. I have *loved* writing
this column, looking for superlative quotes, babbling about everything
super under the sun, and being a part of the FOLC Central staff.

I feel sorrow because as one cycle of my life begins, this one ends.
It is sweet because I remember all the fun I had coming up with
signs of folcness, going Lois and Clarking on Halloween, finding
the *perfect* quote to write a whole column around.

Before I go, I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude:
to Molly for being the best editor/publisher/
and Cyber friend a girl could ask for--I
remembered how much I love writing
thanks to you
to Cristin for being my soulsister :o)
to the Diva for her fashion sense
to our beloved Fanfiction Writers for
awesome stories and super quotes
to Mary who named my column
and to *you* for reading this now.

And since I'll never get all the great quotes out of my system,
here are a few to savor as the Mouthful closes...........

Clark: Hi.
Lois: Hi. Oh, god, this is exactly why we shouldn't go out.
Clark: All I said was hi.
Lois: Yes, I know, and a dozen thoughts went
through my mind: You know, how's my makeup?
Do I smell good? Do I have coffee breath? See,
and all that was just with you saying hi.
What's gonna happen when you start
saying words with more than one syllable?
--Season 2, Episode 13: "The Phoenix"

Lois (rolls her head and smiles) "What am I going to do with you?"
Clark (smugly) "You're going to love me for the rest of my life."
Pam Jernigan "Crazy For You"

Lois: Well, what he can't do, it doesn't matter. It's the idea of Superman.
Someone to believe in. Someone to build a few hopes around. Whatever he can
do, that's enough.
--Season 1, Episode 3: "Neverending Battle"

Lois watches Clark sleeping and ponders:

"You could be anywhere in the world right now, you could be doing anything
in the world right now. Yet you're here, with me, in this little
apartment, on a cold, rainy Tuesday and all you wanted to do was to watch
a basketball game and eat some pizza.....You are so amazing, Clark.
You don't even know that, do you? You don't know just how amazing you are."
--Chris Mulder, Dimensions of Loving

Lois: Zara, stir the fudge, and turn off the popcorn.
Zara: Which is which?
Lois: Finally, someone worse in the kitchen than me.
--Season 4, Episode 2: "Battleground Earth"

I don't know how to say goodbye, so I won't.
--Maggie, the last Mouthful

The Diva Factor
by Karen (LadyFOLC@aol.com)

Congratulations to Jenna1129 for correctly answering the most questions in the awards show trivia quiz! She will receive an ultrafabulous 8x10" L&C photo and will soon be featured in "The Diva Factor". Thanx to those who participated - and those who didn't, well you just stink.

Correct answers:
1. Who was the first president of A.M.P.A.S. (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences)? Douglas Fairbanks

2. Last year at the Oscars, Titanic tied the record for most nominations as well as the record for most wins. Name the films it tied with. "All About Eve" - 14 nominations

3. Last year at the Golden Globes, Ving Rhames gave his award to Jack Lemmon. Name the category of the award, and the nominated work both actors did. Best Actor in a TV Movie/Miniseries - Ving won for "Don King - Only In America", and gave it to Jack for "12 Angry Men".

4. What was the first film to win the Best Picture Oscar? (Bonus to anyone who picks up the catch in this question) The first film to win Best Picture was "The Broadway Medley" in 1930. But the first film to win the top award, back in 1928-29, when it was called Best Picture Production was "Wings".

5. What musical has won the most Oscars? "West Side Story", 10 Oscars in 1963

6. What film did Audrey Hepbrun win a Best Actress award for? (Bonus if you can name the other films she was nominated for) "Roman Holiday" in 1954. Also nominated for "Sabrina" in '55, "The Nun's Story" in '60, "Breakfast at Tiffany's" in '62, and "Wait Until Dark" in '68.

7. Who designed Jennifer Lopez's dress at the Oscars this year? Badgley Mischka

8. Usually, the Best Director Oscar is awarded to the director of the winner of Best Picture. Not this year, with the Speilberg/"Shakespeare In Love" split. When's the last time this happened - name the year, and winning director and picture. 1990- "Driving Miss Daisy" won Best Picture, and Oliver Stone won Best Director for "Born on the Fourth of July".

9. This year, Fernanda Montenegro was the second South American thespain to receive an Oscar nomination (for Best Actress). Who was the first - name the person, year, and film it was for. Argentine actress Norma Aleandro for 1987's "Gaby, a True Story"

10. Who holds the record for most ACTING Oscar nominations? Katharine Hepburn - 12 nominations

11. Who holds the most Oscar nominations of any living person? Composer John Williams with 37 nominations for film scores, including "Saving Private Ryan"

12. What foreign-language film holds the record for most Oscar nominations? "Life Is Beautiful" with 7 nominations

13. Before "Life is Beautiful", what was the last foreign language film to receive a Best Picture Oscar nomination? "Il Postino", in 1995

14. "Shakespeare in Love" is the sixth film ever to earn 13 Oscar nominations. Name the other five. "Gone With The Wind" (1939), "From Here to Eternity" (1953), "Mary Poppins" (1964), "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" (1966) and "Forrest Gump" (1994).

15. What film did Alfred Hitchcock receive a Best Picture and Director Oscar nomination for? Two films fit this, actually. "Rebecca" in 1940 - won Best Picture and Hitchcock was nominated for Best Director. "Spellbound" in 1944 was also nominated for both categories.

Would you then be able to print those icq numbers in a newsletter?
Would that be possible? Thanks.
