Dr. Jilly
By Jill (Mommy31420@aol.com)

Hi everybody! I have finally came up with the perfect column. But first I have to explain how it works. I will act like any character from any Lois and Clark episode. Then, acting like them, I will write a letter to Dr. Jilly(me). Then, if you know who the character is, write advice for the person and send it to me. The first person with the best advice will get there response, along with mine, in the next issue. Got it? Good!

Dr. Jilly,
Hi. I've got a really big problem. See, I just got back from "up town." Lets just say I made a few too many bad decisions in my life. Now I have to prove to my dad that I've changed, and I'm going to be O.K. in the world. But, I'm not. I have a job but, it's not exactly what I told him it was. I really don't like to do it but it's the only going for me right now. It's kinda secret, but it involves a big guy in tights and a red rock. If anyone finds out what my job really is then I'll have to go back to jail. I have a feeling some people already do. It's these two reporters Lois and Clark. I hear they're the best. If they know I'm dead. What should I do?
--troubled son

O.K. If you know who the character is E-mail me at Mommy31420@aol.com and send me your advice. Yours might be chosen to be in the next newsletter.

Maggie's Column!
By Maggie (Maggie13@bellsouth.net)

Hi everyone, as I write this it's 9:10pm EST and I am in the Hurricane
Capital of the World, my little home sweet home - Miami - waiting for that
yucky villain we call Georges to strike. My mother is filling my bathtub
with water, my best friend is picking up her grandparents to take them from
the mobile home where they live to a safe shelter. My universe has been
reduced to Hurricane Warnings, Emergency Procedures, and that sinking
feeling you get in your stomach when you actually have to use the phrase
"Act of God" in a sentence.

How am I dealing with my stress? Writing a column of course. Don't have to
many waffy moments in my immediate future, so I have to get in at least one
good one before I have to hunker down in the walk-in closet. I'm not a
hunkering kind of gal, and I'm really not looking forward to it, but there
is nothing like rain, thunder and lightening to put me in touch with my
InnerDiva so, I have decided to hunker in style. I will be wearing my
Calvin Klein pajamas that I got at Marshalls for like, $6.00. There is
nothing better than designer hurricane attire at Target prices.

Inspired by our very own Diva, I thought, Karen would probably
say something like, "Just because one must be locked in one's closet
does not mean one cannot look good." She would say it much better
than that of course, but then again, there is a reason she is The Diva.

Should I mention that I am printing out my fanfics now, so that in the
event of an electrical failure, my flashlight and I can read on? Hmm, just
did.

Stress puts me into severe babble mode as you can tell. I do however, have
a fanfic to write about, so I'll put on my QuoteGirl hat and try to forget
about Georgie for a while.

Today's selection is from The Unaired Fifth Season of Lois and Clark.
There are many, many, wonderful episodes and you can find them all at:

http://members.aol.com/thenando/tufs.htm

Some of my favorites were Sheila Harper's Myxtuplit ones and Jeff Brogden's
version of what happened to Alternate Clark. There was also a fun episode
with the Flash, another with Batman, and some happy Smallville moments.
Although I picked Jeff Brogden's "Two Become One" episode, I really
recommend the whole season. TUFS was the first fan fiction I ever read. I
have a sentimental attachment to it because it was my first taste
of Folcdom. A delicious taste, I must say.

Here is a morsel for you to try:

Alternate Clark has been spending time with a mysterious woman named
Amanda. He is quite confused by the effect she is having on him and
confides in his friend Rachel.

"[Amanda] confuses me constantly. She's always babbling about something
and then something brilliant will come out. She's stubborn and pigheaded.
She always seems to get her way, no matter how hard I try to change
things...."

"Ah, Clark?"

"I thought we were just friends. But after last night, I'm not so sure
anymore...One minute we're talking about our narrow escape, the next, I'm
about to kiss her."

"Clark?"

"Why would I be doing that? I'm supposed to be looking for a Ms. Lois Lane
-- reporter lost in the Congo. Love of my life, my destiny. Have I told
you about her? She's the reason I'm Superman."

"Clark!"

Clarked looked at her. "What?"

"Now you're babbling. It's obvious to me. It breaks my heart to say it,"
she put a hand over her heart, "but you're in love."

Clark's mouth opened and closed several times, with no sound coming out. "I
can't be!"

Ah, but he is. And how. Lois Lane. Amanda Hart. Secrets, lies,
revelations and romance. Mix in a little mystery, a villain named Trask,
Lucy Lane and the considerable writing talents of one Jeff Brogden and you
have quite a yummy story indeed. Enjoy.

Tune in next time for my next exciting adventure, The Season 5
Experience....and if you are wondering what my column name will be, so am
I! Just kidding. My column does have a name, really, I am just letting the
suspense build ;o) As always, questions, comments, suggestions and fanfic
recommendations are very welcome at maggie13@bellsouth.net

Ask Cat Grant!
by Cat (CatGrant36@aol.com)

Why exactly did ABC *shudder; what an evil TV station* cancel "Lois and
Clark?"
Curious

Dear Curious,
Excellent question! And a question that has been pondered countless times by many FoLCs. Various explanations have been offered by the Warner Brothers Company and ABC. You be the judge:

Possible Explanation #1--According to ABC, Lois and Clark was declining in the ratings. It had fallen from its usual slot in the Top 20 to being lucky to snatch a spot in the Top 50. The reason for this drastic drop in ratings has been attributed to various circumstances, cheifly the Lois and Clark wedding. Many viewers of Lois and Clark only tuned in in hopes that Lois and Clark would finally get together. Once the couple were officially husband and wife, the viewing audience had less of a reason to tune in.

Possible Explanation #2--Lois and Clark was a Warner Brothers Production airing on ABC. When ABC merged with Disney, a rival company to Warner Brothers Production, Disney was eager to remove the program and replace it with "The Wonderful World of Disney." After all, don't your remember the constant Disney ads towards the end of Season 4? Does the episode "Toy Story" ring any bells?

Possible Explanation #3--Both Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher were ready to end the show and move on to movies, as well as spendmore time with their families. While this explanation has been offered, the surprise of the actors upon hearing of the cancellation and the lack of Dean and Teri-filled theatrical releases leads me to believe that this was just an excuse contrived by "the powers that be."

Thanks for writing!
Cat

Trivia

The last newsletter's question was:

>>What color of shirt was Dean Cain wearing when he posed for the cover of "Entertainment Weekly" in 1996?<<

The answer was WHITE. But, as many of you pointed out, that white shirt was also very wet! Congrats to LadyFOLC@aol.com who was the first one to get the answer right! She gets 50 superdollars!

THIS JUST IN....

Since we have been getting a LOT of responses for trivia, I have decided that IF five or more people answer a question correctly, there will be a second winner, chosen at random, each time. They'll get 50 superdollars, too! But that will start next time...with the question that you're about to recieve. First, I'd like to say "way to go" to everyone else who got the answer right: FoLCzRUs, amberlea112, ErinFOLC, Chocluv120, Hoppe6, Cubby89, LNCTNAOS, MelRaymond, and Esophagus5!
...and a big shout out to ARiche503 for his creativity
Great job, everyone!

This newsletter's question is...

Name the actress who not only had a small part in an L&C episode, but also played Broots's daughter on NBC's "The Pretender".

Send your answers to me at LoveLC@aol.com and you could win 50 superdollars! Good luck!
