Maggie's Mouthful
by Maggie13@bellsouth.net

Well Folcies a long time ago in a newsletter quite a few cybermiles away, I
promised we would discuss the beauty and quotability of Season 5. A
hurricane, a holiday and a few pre-emptions later, that wondruos time has
come. And just to show you that good fics come to those who wait, we shall
ramble on about not one, but *two* delightful eps from that Super*lative
creation we call Season 5.

First I must say that although I did not plan this, if you will recall, the
TUFS episode we worshipped, uh, I mean reviewed was the resolution of what
happened to Alt-Clark and his Lois. I am sure you will all find this quite
H.G. Wellesian as it just so happens that the episode of Season 5 I just
finished reading is #18 "Through the Looking Glass". And what would be the
plot of said episode, you ask? All together now, "Alt-Clark finds his
Lois!"

This story was written by Kathy Brown who is not only one of the revered
members of Fanfiction Goddesshood, she is the Editor-In-Chief of that
Heavenly place we call the Archive, the Lois & Clark Fan Fiction Archive
.
The episode was based on a story by a lovely woman named Betsy who I have
not had the pleasure of meeting, but anyone with a Lois and Clark story
seems lovely to me!

In this ep, which takes place mostly in the Alternate Metropolis, you will
meet up again with James Olsen-owner of the Daily Planet, Perry White-
Mayor of Metropolis, Tempus-Evil Villain of Parallel Universes, and Lex
Luthor-still bad dead or alive, Alternate, Regular or De-Caffeinated.

For quoting purposes, we shall now transport you to Alternate Metropolis,
to the very moment where Jimmy, uhm, Mr. Olsen re-unites the writing team
of Lane and Kent.

"Ah, Clark," James enthused. "Right on time. I'd like you to meet Lois
Lane. Lois Lane, Clark Kent."

Lois couldn't help but stare. "We've ... uh .... met," she said, as she
automatically reached out to shake his hand. A little shiver went through
her as their hands clasped and Lois had to remind herself to breathe. She'd
been overwhelmed after he had rescued her not an hour before, but who
wouldn't be? After all, he was a god in a cape. Yet seeing him this way --
in glasses and a suit and tie -- took her breath away as much as the flying
had. How was it possible that he could be *better* looking in work clothes?

As their hands separated and everyone in the office engaged in a bit of
small talk, Lois gave herself a mental shake. She recognized this feeling.
'I've been unconscious for five years, and I'm developing a huge crush on
the first man I meet?' she thought, a little exasperated with herself.
'Where are your priorities, girl??'

Yet she couldn't deny the feeling, and it only grew stronger the more they
talked. He was beautiful, smart, funny, sweet ... and he could fly! What's
more, he kept staring at her with something akin to awe ... and maybe a
little nervousness.

Lois smiled and cocked her head as she studied him. A little flattery did
wonders for her ego, but this was going beyond that. This man -- this Clark
Kent, this Superman -- kept looking at her like she was the most precious
thing in the world to him.

But for the life of her, she couldn't figure out why."

If you would like to take a stab at figuring out why, and honestly, who
wouldn't?!?

You can find the whole lovely story here:

And if you haven't yet started with the rest of the Season, you might want
to get started before Season 6 rolls around!

Trivia

This week's question is...

There are 3 different versions of the L&C Pilot...the original one-part Pilot, the two-part Pilot (this is the one they show on TNT), and the UK version. Tell me...

1) One quote that is in the original one-part Pilot and the UK version, but NOT in the two-part Pilot

2) One quote that is in the two-part Pilot and the UK version, but not in the original one-part Pilot

3) One quote that is in ONLY the UK version, and not in the original one-part Pilot or the two-part Pilot

I think you gotta be slightly obsessive to know the answer to this! The first person to answer all 3 questions correctly, or whoever gets the most correct, gets 50 superdollars! Send your answers to lovelc@aol.com!

L&C Questionette

OK, FOLCs...this newsletter's questionette is...

It's almost Thanksgiving, and Lois and Clark have been married for two years. And Lois wants to have all their relatives over for a Thanksgiving dinner in L&C's tiny brownstone/apartment. Two words: bad idea! Describe all the possible things that could go wrong. You can pretty much make up anything you want! Will Sam Lane bring another cyborg date to dinner? Will Ellen have an anxiety attack? Will Lois burn the turkey? You do know you have to make the stuffing, it doesn't come in the bird. ;-) What about Lucy? Martha? Jonathan? L&C's kids (if they have any by now)?

Send your answers to me (lovelc@aol.com)! The 2-3 funniest/best/most creative answerers will get 35 superdollars each! Have fun with this, FOLCs!
