Do you enjoy writing? Check out this page... At the CyberDesk (http://www.angelfire.com/co/vaccuumcleaners)

Here are some sightings, from Rachel...

Just wanted to let you know that I have another sighting. My mom and I went to see "Patch Adams" today (by the way, if you haven't seen it, it's good), and Harve Presnell was in it. He was the Head Dean of the Hospital and Medical school. He showed up a couple times (talking to Patch (Robin Williams), and handing out diplomas and stuff like that). Oh, they called him Dean Anderson, I believe.

One more thing, Mindy McCready doesn't sing on the Inspirational version of "The Prince of Egypt" soundtrack, but on the Nashville version, which has a lot of country music singers on it. Sorry about that!

Hey, FOLCs! I've updated the bank accounts...sort of. I've put all the accounts up, so if you've signed up recently and noticed it had taken me forever to get a bank account up for you, just know that there should be one for you now. As far as updating the accounts with Superdollars? Well, I'm a little slow, but expect that to be updated soon.

Voting Update

Thanks to EVERYONE who has voted so far! What an overwhelming response...what a lot of work for me to do...LOL, but I'm not complaining. Remember to vote if you haven't done so already...

FOLC Faves '98--VOTE HERE1
http://members.aol.com/LoveLC/vote2.html

You have until January 15th to vote. And remember: ONLY VOTE ONCE. One time. Uno. No dos. No tres. Once. Got it? Thank you!! If you vote more than once, I will know, even if you put a fake name on one of the ballots, I will still know who REALLY sent it, and I'll have to feed you to the tiger from "Ordinary People." Mwahaha. :)

Signs of Folcness or Best of 1998
by Maggie, the Mouthful girl

This year was *super* and I mean that literally. Signs of Folcness are
everywhere, especially when you go out looking for them. And trust me,
nothing shows the level of your L&C Devotion like looking for the
Superness, in everything, everyone, anywhere, anytime.

So, in that wrap-it-up-with-a-Bang tradition of ushering out the old year
and ringing in the new, here are in no particular order 11 Signs of
Folcness
I have experienced this year.......

11. Not once but twice, on the roads of Miami I saw a car with a House of
El bumper sticker. The first one I saw happened to be in a parking lot
and I left a note on the wind shield commending the driver on such
good taste in vehicular adornments.

10. The day Dean welcomed me home. So he was in my mailbox. On a postcard.
He was there, I was happy, okay?

9. Where I work, we file Corporations. One day one of our clients, who
also exhibited fabulous taste, and great decision making wisdom, named his
business St. Lois Corporation. When he was telling me how to spell it, I
ofcourse said, you mean like, Lois Lane in Superman? To which, Oh Wise and
Valued Client responded, Oh, that was one of my favorite shows.........and
just because his sister's name is Lois too, well, that means nothing.

8. My multiple E-mail Buddies who have given the words You Have Mail new
meaning. Meanings which could be divided into such categories as :

How many ways can you drool over Dean, let us count them....
New and completely trivial and totally fascinating little known facts about
our favorite show
Love & Laugh with L&C (favorite eps, funny moments, and the silverware
incident all go here)
and many more, you know them all, including but not limited to, DeanRadar,
which translates roughly to: Wherever he is, a Folc will find him

7. Have I mentioned my collection of every episode of Lois and Clark ever
aired? Taping, watching, taping, watching.

6. If you remember October 1, 1998 as Dean Day, not only is that a sure
sign of folcness, it also means, you and I would get along, really, really
well.

5. You know how I mentioned these signs are everywhere? Nothing can
brighten a girl's day like a random folc moment, such as: A client today
was happy about something I explained to him and he said the magic word:
"Super!"

4. Being the Diva-in-Training that I am, I was just awe-struck by the
realization that a trip to the Warner Brothers store excites me almost as
much as a trip to Express.
(my *favorite* store in the whole wide world, which I will write a column
about someday, but alas, today is not that day....)

3. Who would have thought S-Shield Accessories go well with black,
brown--the new black, and gray, the new brown?

2. As I write this, I just finished creating my fifth file folder of
BookMarks for Lois and Clark Websites. At the moment it only has
one site, but give me time.

1. This year I became a columnist. My babbling tendencies have found a
home. Thanks to Molly & Karen who really inspired me to sit down and write
something. And to all of you who, I like to pretend, are actually reading
this right now.

If you are ever in the mood to share your very own Signs of Folcness, we
are just an e-mail away!

The Obsession Connection

I love 1998. I am going to miss 1998. I'm going to cry now, okay? But seriously, this was one of my best years ever. And as I think back to the wonderful things I did, which will probably be of no interest to you, since you weren't there, I've decided to print them regardless of that pesky detail!

January--the great snowstorm of '98. My cousin and her friend got snowed in down here in Portland, so they stayed at my house. My cousin made my mom watch Buffy for the first time, and my mom was soooo scared! I saw Titanic. I loved it so much I went back a bunch more times. The first newsletter of FOLC Central came out in January. Dawson's Creek premiered.

February--saw Titanic 3 times in Februrary. Declared an undying love for Leonardo DiCaprio (LOL!)

March--discovered Lara! Only THE coolest deejay EVER, who now resides near San Francisco, I don't know where, if you see her, say "hi!" for me, okay? I got to be the Dawson's Creek reporter. I won two Titanic CDs on the radio. Saw "The Man In The Iron Mask" and loved it. Went to Marysville, Washington, to visit my relatives and take videos of their Golden Retriever, Penny, for my senior project (simply titled "Dogs On TV").

April--Lara tried to get me to watch Buffy, but I didn't. I was an idiot. A terrible, clueless, naive idiot.

May--Got an A on my senior project. Was the ONLY person in my entire school who wasn't sick of listening to "My Heart Will Go On".

June--Graduation!! That was such a nervewracking experience! But the party afterwards was totally fun. Went to my cousin's house and saw Penny again (Penny lives in Traverse City now--you know, where that plane carrying Leigh Anne and Jesse Stipanovich almost went down, and they took pics with Superman at the Ding Dong Motel?). I miss Penny.

July--Did the whole summer camp thing. Helped out a kids' day camp. Started watching Buffy again--I saw the episode "Angel", declared an undying love for David Boreanaz, and have not missed a single episode since then.

August-December--My cousin visited and got snowed in AGAIN! She now says she's never coming to Portland again, unless it's in the summer. I went camping, started school, hated school, got a Furby, etc. And this year, there were five new babies in my life: Tony, Daniel, Caleb, Anya, and Nicholas.

So, you know what? All in all, this was a really great year. I mean, everyone had different experiences, and maybe for some people, this wasn't a good year. But for me? I am seriously going to miss 1998. I hope 1999 can be even better. And maybe 1999 will be the year Dean will propose...uh, I mean...maybe I'll MEET him! I'm crossing my fingers.

L&C In 1999
by Molly (MPSL27@aol.com)
Author's Note: Hey, FOLCs! I started writing this fanfic in January of 1996. I stumbled across it recently and realized that I should probably share it with all of you now! The fanfic was set in the future (1999), and since it's almost 1999 in the real world, I figured it was appropriate. Events in this story are based on the L&C episodes that had aired as of January 1996...remember how we all thought the February 1996 wedding would be the real wedding? WhatEVER! LOL, enjoy!

Warning: Bizarre FanFic alert. Don't be surprised if you don't understand half of what is going on... :)

L&C In 1999
by Molly (MPSL27@aol.com)

********************************************************************

The year was 1999. James Olsen, as he now prefered to be called, left his apartment early in hopes of being the first one, besides Editor Perry White and the custodial staff, to make it to the Daily Planet that morning. Showing a little extra effort never hurt, and James hoped to get another raise in the near future.

On his way into work, James bought a box of fat-free doughnuts to give to Perry White. At the last minute, he bought another box, this time with cream-filled and jelly-filled, just in case Perry was in a bad mood.

James then continued his walk to work. He never took a cab, it was bad for the environment. Buses were too dirty. And the subway could always stall and make him late, even if he was already nearly three hours early. He turned onto the main street which led to the street where the Daily Planet stood. A small parade was in session, not all that unusual for 1999 Metropolis, where people enjoyed showing off their artistic sides and just showing off in general.

At the head of the parade, Mindy Church and her dog rode in a pink convertible, waving. Behind them was a float carrying the mayor.

When James arrived at work, Perry White was standing on his couch, swinging his arms around and singing "I feel good!" to the tune of the radio. Perry no longer cared for Elvis, ever since The King had tried to burn down the Daily Planet last year. Clark, or Superman, had flown in from Tahiti to put the fire out, thus saving the building and the people inside. Elvis was now on probation.

James smiled, knowing that the Chief had had a good weekend. Perry's date with former reporter and actress Linda King had obviously gone well. James straightened his tie and waited to be noticed.

The song soon ended, and Perry turned to James, not at all embarassed by his behavior. "Jimmy! In early this morning, aren't we?" Perry, out of breath, sat down on the couch and loosened his tie.

"Good morning, Chief," James said. "I brought doughnuts. I take it your date went well on Saturday?"

Perry shook his head, not really indicating an answer. "Clark...you remember him...he called last night and said he, Lois, and their daughter will be in for a visit later today."

"Where are they now?" Jimmy asked.

"Wisconsin. Or did he say Wyoming? Either way.....they're coming."

"Is that why you were...so, ah, peppy this morning?"

"Can't a man switch from decaf to regular without a hassle?"

"Sorry, Chief."

"Oh, and by the by, the cast of that old television show, 'Friends', will be in this morning for an exclusive interview about their new feature film, 'Still Friends', and they're bringing the monkey."

"I thought you hated monkeys!"

"Well, I do! But editors sometimes have to make sacrifices to sell a few papers!"

***

Lois shook her head as she bundled her daughter up for the flight to Metropolis, which was ready to depart as soon as the flighteur got back from the accident scene. The little girl was almost two, and had light brown hair and dark eyes, like her mother when she was that age. "Almost ready," Lois muttered as her finger wedged in the zipper of the Elsie's blue and red jacket.

As soon as her husband returned, they were off.

***

"Rachel...may I call you Rachel?" James asked excitedly.

"Sure," Rachel Green replied, patting her tightly permed black hair.

Jimmy was in love. "Rachel...are you excited about your new feature film? It'll be out in theaters in a few weeks."

"Of course I'm exited," Rachel replied. "My husband Ross and I shared some very intimate scenes together, but the movie is rated so low...grrr...that they couldn't allow those scenes in the movie...yeah, darn, I know..."

Monica and Phoebe were discussing new fashion styles with Angela, an employee of the Daily Planet, and Ross was demonstrating to Perry how to add *just* the right amount of hairspray to his already hairsprayed hair. Chandler and Joey were scoping out cute girls.

Jimmy gulped. "You're married?" he asked Rachel, disappointed.

Ross heard that, and hurried over to his wife. "Yes, Rach and I are married and...VERY much in love."

Rachel rolled her eyes. "Yeah, whatever. Ross?"

"Yes sweetie?"

"Where's the monkey?"

"What monkey? Oh THAT monkey!" His face turned white. "Oh my gosh! HAS ANYONE SEEN MARCEL?"

Everyone in the newsroom looked up. Ross started going around the newsroom yelling Marcel's name. A few people joined in. At that moment, there was a gasp. "Look!" someone cried. "It's Superman!"

Everyone turned to look at the window. Superman flew down, carrying Lois and Elsie. A few people called out "hi!" and one or two people even clapped. Perry ran over to them as they landed.

"Hi Perry," Clark/Superman said, smiling.

Lois set Elsie down and hugged Perry. Lois and Clark shook hands with Jimmy, Rachel, Ross, Chandler, Joey, Monica, and Phoebe. Joey pathetically attempted to hit on Lois, but she glared at him and he turned away, sulking.

"It's been too long, you two!" Perry said. "What? Do you think you can just quit your jobs and never show your faces around here again?"

Lois and Clark laughed. Suddenly, Lois said, "Where's Elsie?"

"Elsie!?" Lois called. Clark used his x-ray vision to find his daughter. Lois watched as he did this, and when the look on his face suddenly turned from worry to amusement, Lois demanded to know what was so funny.

"Elsie," said Clark. "Is in Perry's office, sitting on the couch, petting a monkey."

"Marcel!!" Ross cried.

"A monkey?" Lois asked.

"My monkey," said Ross.

"Why do you have a monkey?" Lois said.

"Because he's in our new movie and he's helping us promote the film!" Ross said, running in to Perry's office to retrieve Marcel.

***

After the Friends left, Jimmy went to work on some story. Perry went into his office to listen to some Beatles CDs. Angela got sick and went home. And Lois, Clark, and Elsie were standing in the middle of the newsroom, very very bored.

"Dada?" Elsie said.

"Yes, Elsie?"

"Wanna go home," she said, in her almost-two-year-old voice. Clark picked her up. "You do, huh? Well, then, let's go!" He picked up Lois and Elsie and they flew home (which was, at the moment, Washington).

***

Elsie was down for her nap, and Lois and Clark sat on the couch, clearly exhausted (although neither was sure exactly why). Clark picked up the TV remote and started flipping through channels. "Talk show...the Dating Game...a Full House re-run...oh, it's the episode where Michelle learns to ride a bike!...boring sitcom...whoa, that show's STILL ON???...boring...Seinfeld..."

Finally, they decided on The X-Files and prepared to watch a very scary episode. When it was over, they kissed for awhile, shared a chocolate bunny leftover from Easter, and proceeded to go to bed.

And that, is where I predict L&C will be in 1999!!! (in my world).

THE END
