By:
Cristin
CKandLL4ever@Juno.com
Hey everyone. Welcome to my
interactive column!!! Okay, I have some instructions for you. Please ask
yourself the following questions:
1.) Is L&C the coolest show
ever?
If you answered yes, continue.
If you answered no, this is NOT the
NL for you.
2.) Do you read fanfic?
If you answered yes, good for
you! Keep reading.
If you answered no, you don't know what you're missing!
3.) Have you turned in your Kerth nominations yet??? (you knew it was
coming)
If you answered yes, please continue on... and yay for you! :o)
If
you answered no, go straight to the archive. Do not pass go; do not collect 200
dollars. You can't read my column until you do!!!
Okay, now that I
have sorted my readers, I can continue on with my column.

Tanya's Column!
Everybody mades really close
friends on the net. But what happens when you decide to take the plunge; and
meet them in real life ? Here's my personal experience. Maybe you can learn
something from it =)
It all started a long time ago - almost 6 months,
when I was totally bored during my school holidays. So I logged into my old
favourite chat room and started talking. After about a day I'd become firm
friends with a guy named Jammer... or Mark in real life. After about a week he
persuaded me to ring him. The friendship kind of grew from there. He WAS a
complete idiot to talk to on the phone... But I kind of liked him... in a weird
way. Then last week at school my friend came up to me and begged me to come
skating with her the next week, as she was meeting a guy from the internet and
was desperate for moral support. So, quite happily I agreed, but my own warped
brain was starting to formulate a plan. Half joking; I asked Mark to come along;
and to my surprise he agreed. It was at about this point that I started to get
scared. Really scared.
So yestserday at about 1:30 pm I was sitting at
my kitchen table, totally freaking out because my ride wasn't
at my house
yet. Half an hour later and after about 100 unsuccessful games of Minesweeper
they arrived at my house, where I jumped into their 4WD (sandwiched in between 2
older guys.. hmmm =). I arrived at the rollerdrome... and quickly walked inside.
We were SO late! But I couldn't see him anywhere. I put on my blades which I had
borrowed from my friend. WARNING,. If your friend lets you borrow your blades,
assume that they won't work). I ended up hiring skates.
It was then that
I saw him. (We'd seen pictures of each other.) He kind of half waved at me....
and I smiled back at him (I was starting to feel really self conscious, and made
my way over to him. We both looked incredibly sophisticated in cargo shorts and
boardies =)
It was downhill from there; for a while anyway. I spent
about a year putting on my skates and we sat there
screaming at each other,
desperately trying to be heard over the blaring music. Then we got onto the
floor
and raced each other around the rink (I beat him.. heh heh heh). We
didn't really get to TALK that much;the music was just way too loud. After a
while we got off and got some drinks (I know this is so romantic=)
After she left he told me he liked
her...
But one question she asked was burning through my mind.. "Yeah..
how CAN you afford to be on the
internet so much ?" I asked. (Remind me not
to do that again.)
"Well... I have a friend who's into credit card
fraud..."
It was at this point my mother's dire warnings about not going
outside with the guy started reverberating
through my head. I was starting to
get scared. Really scared. I dragged him onto the floor (I actually touched him.
Ugh.. he was so ugly =) and we skated around.. I was skating backwards and he
was skating forward facing me... getting closer, and closer. I purposely fell
over to avoid any... incidents.
Well the rest of the session passed
pretty uneventfully. We left REALLY casually - "See ya !" "See ya." and then I
got in the car, and drove away.
I was tired of real life so as soon as I
got home and had a shower I got onto the internet, where I could truly relax.
After about 1/2 an hour he came on.
"Guess what !!" He messaged me..
"What..." I cautiously asked.
"You know... I could really get to
LIKE you."
"Umm.. OK"
"Wanna go see a movie next week ?" Don't
ask why I did this....
"Yeah sure !! What do you want to see ?"

The Obsession
Connection
As I'm writing this, I'm
saying yay to myself because I nominated some Kerth fanfics today, and I am so
happy that I actually did it. But now what? I mean, I've got a couple of weeks
before they announce the nominees and the voting begins. What do I do in the
meantime? Well, duh, I told myself. You watch the show, you silly freak! After
all, there wouldn't be L&C fanfics if there was no L&C.
And
aren't I glad there's L&C! What better show to watch at 2am, when you can't
sleep because you've eaten your chocolate & peanut butter heart that you got
for Valentine's Day, and the caffeine is making you hyper? What better show to
watch when you're sick with the flu, stuck in bed with a thermometer in your
mouth and a cold compress on you head, and a cup of chicken noodle soup, minus
the chicken, on your nightstand, next to your photo of Teri and Dean? And what
better show to watch any time? There is no better show. And if I didn't have to
go to school, I'd watch it constantly. So it's probably good that I do have
school, otherwise I'd probably wear out my VCR. Either that, or it would just go
up in flames. Now that would be interesting.
Well, as I told you last
week, I was supposed to give blood on Saturday. And I actually did it! I
actually found the place, filled out the form, answered all the embarassing
questions (Questions like, "Have you ever been with anyone who has lived in
China since 1977 and has come in contact with a monkey that has come in contact
with anyone over the age of 27, who likes long walks on the beach?" I swear,
these are the kinds of questions they ask).
But you know what the cool
thing is about giving blood? No, not the satisfaction of helping others! The
freebies! I got a pin, since it was my first time giving blood. I also got a Red
Cross calendar (oh, joy to the fishies in the deep blue sea, already), and all
the Oreos and soda I could eat. Plus they were having this Buffy promotion, so I
got a Buffy T-shirt and poster, and a Z-100 bumper sticker. And chapstick! So
that was fun.
Then on Sunday it was Valentine's Day (hello, duh, Clark
Kent is Superman) and we had to go to my mom's friend's house. They have a
pre-teen daughter who absolutely annoys me. Worst of all, she heard about the
Buffy blood drive, and she thought Buffy was a guy. A guy!?!?!? Naturally, I had
to shun her for at least a few hours. Then she admitted that she didn't really
like L&C. KILL HER!! Kidding...kidding. She's still alive. And then they
stuck "Mulan" in the VCR.
Just when I thought my day couldn't get any
more...well, insert a word of choice, here...we went to my mom's other friends
house. Now they are pretty cool people. Their kids aren't allowed to watch
Buffy, but the kids have seen it once or twice and at least know Buffy's gender.
Plus, they're FOLCs, so I can't hate them. However, they were watching ABC. And
you know what that means...the wonderful world of Mickey Mouse. Yeah. So the
movie of the night was "Cinderella". I kept telling them "Ever After" is so much
better, and while the Prince Charming in that movie was...good-looking, Dougray
Scott is much cuter. And then I find the King Charming is none other than Mr.
Andrews from Titanic. So every time he came on the screen, I had to say
something ("She's made of iron, Sir! I assure you, she can!")
And that's
when I ate the peanut butter heart candy that made me hyper and sleepless in
Portland. One of my new fave shows is "Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane". It freaks
me out. I totally love it. I am so Zoe Bean. I could be Zoe. We even have the
same hair color, if that means anything. Except I don't live in New York City,
and I've never been on the subway. But who cares? I'm still her. So now I've got
a new Sunday night show. Notice I said new...not replacing, not better, not
cooler. Nah, L&C will always be the best Sunday night show that ever was. My
heart is reserved for L&C every Sunday night at 8pm. But then at 9pm I get
my Zoe and my Duncan and Jack and Jane.
But it's Tuesday now, and there's
only one thought on my mind: "Where IS that tape of 'Don't Tug on Superman's
Cape'??"
