The E-Files
by Erin (ErinFOLC@aol.com)
Hi FoLCs!! Welcome to my very
first column :) Whoo-hoo!! I've been telling Molly
I wanted to write a column
for FoLC Central for a long time, but I've never gotten a chance to do it until
now! Okay, anyway, this column is going to be different all the time :) One week
I may do a fic, one week i'll do quotes, and sometimes even trivia! Lots of
times though, I'll go on a ranting rampage, so watch out for that!!
So its
kinda exciting..for me anyway ;) Now..on with the column.
First, let me
tell you a little about myself. My name is Erin*Jean, and I'm fifteen years old.
I *LOVE* to write, read, watch Lois and Clark, surf the net, and go malling :) I
guess my favorite show besides Lois and Clark is the X-Files. David Duchovny..I
dunno there is just something about him that is attracting. I think its the
hair.
That's what attracted me to Dean at first..his hair. That georgeous
black hair...and the way
that little piece just hung over his forhead..mmm.
:) I'm sure all the ladies out there know what I'm talking
about!! And as for
Lois's hair, I always wanted her haircut before she chopped it off in the
episode *Contact*. Well, she
didn't actually chop it off in the ep, but thats
the first episode we see the new du. Personally, I don't like
short hair on
her. It made her look thinner and older. Does anyone out there agree with me?
Anyway, I recently got my haircut like hers and it looks fantastic on me!! I
used to have this strangly long thin hair, but when I cut it short it looks much
nicer. My brother said the other day "Well Er, you got the cut, but you don't
have the color. Go dye it brown."
Now, he is nuts. There is NO way I am dying
MY hair which is Strawberry Blond, to brown. No, I am not that
obsessed.
Anyway.
My dream college is PRINCETON UNIVERSITY. I
always wanted to go there, even before I knew Dean did. The campus is beautiful,
oh my god is it..and the church there takes your breath away. I live about an
hour or less away from that school. But I am never going there..unless we win
the lottery, and I pull my grades up in History and Biology. Which will have to
take a miracle.
My dads friend has a friend that knows someone that used
to go to school with Dean. (Isn't THAT a mouthfull!)
At one of thier
reunions, this guy asked Dean for his autograph signed to ME!! My parents didn't
tell me he was doing this. One day, I was sitting at the dining room table,
writing in my journal, when my mom takes out a piece of paper and puts it down
in front of me. It said "Erin, Super Wishes! Dean C__". (Dean just writes a C
when signing his last name, and than draws a line after it. Its cute!). You
should have heard me go off the wall!! I was so happy!!
Well, for the
next issue I'll tell you my other close encounter with Dean!!
Before I go,
I'll leave you with a few cool links I think are worth checking out!
Fontopolis - There's More To
Life Than Times New Roman -Lots of great fonts!!
Kerths Page -Vote! Vote!
Vote!
The Midi Zone -If you like
Midi files, like I do ;), be sure to go here!!
Thats all for this column
;)
This is Erin, signing off.
Ciao!! :~)

The Diva Factor

Cruel Expectations
Like many Buffy
fans, I recently saw Sarah Michelle Gellar's new movie, Cruel Intentions.
Speaking as an avid fan of movies and of Buffy, as a lover of all things
devious, and as a diva, I can sum up my reaction to this movie very simply - I
loved it. It's one of my new favorite movies.
But I feel like the only
one, a sole voice of fabulousness in this crazy mixed up movie-going world. Many
people who have reviewed it feel that it was hard to tell if this movie was
supposed to be a black comedy or a tragic love story. They were shocked at
Katherine and Sebastian's apparant lack of kindness and humanity, saying their
immoral actions were a jolting and unrealistic view of teenagers
today.
Blah blah blah. The key to loving this movie is to not take it
seriously. Those of us who live in the real world know that teenagers can be the
cruelest of all age groups, and that scheming is not uncommon amongst the high
school set. Big deal. This movie is not meant to be commentary on the state of
America's youth. It's meant to be entertaining, and good gravy, was it ever. To
me, this movie was simply an East Coast Melrose Place on a grander
scale.
Note in the first paragraph, I described Cruel Intentions as Sarah
Michelle Gellar's new movie. Because she is the star - she steals every scene
she is in, and only once did I even remember that she was the same girl who
plays my TV heroine. Sarah does a wonderful job of breaking the Buffy mold -
devious, cold, uncaring, lacking any tolerance for goodness and virtue and
completely devoid of warmth, showing no signs of humanity until the final scene
when she finally gets her due. She's the kind of conniving, evil wench that I
frankly adore. Makes me almost want to dye my hair back to dark brown. And her
costuming was enough to make me declare Katherine my new love.
Ryan
Phillipe does a nice job in this movie - occasionally overacting, but you could
eat cake off his butt. If he were a doctor, I'd eat germs. And his lips, and
that devious smile of his? They won't earn him an Oscar, but it will definitely
earn him a place on my "makes Karen giggle like a school girl who's been
naughty" list. Reese Witherspoon - when my best guy friend Quang saw this movie,
he developed a 24-hour infatuation on her (stopped only by the news that she is
engaged to Ryan and carrying his baby). She was cute. Loved her at the end.
She's not one of those toothpick-thin girls, so it makes me happy to see more
figure types on film. And of course, Selma Blair. I flip between finding her
very amusing and downright annoying. It's the Katherine in me that finds her
annoying, but she did provide many funny moments in the film. And I liked her
hair color.
But you know what, no matter how much I talk about how great
this movie was for sheer entertainment alone, I have yet to find anyone who
enjoyed it as much as me. Is there anyone else out there? Or am I destined to
walk to earth alone, like the Incredible Hulk? (I've been watching the Wedding
Singer. It makes me cute.)

Color Me Cristin
Special Fanfic Edition
Not So Cruel
Intentions
By: Cristin Whitley

"Sorry, Lois.
'Shakespeare In Love' isn't showing anymore," Clark
said.
Lois glanced
at the movie listings above her. "How about that new
Michelle Pfieffer
movie?"
"Um, that's sold out," interrupted the ticket girl. 'Sorry.
Have
you seen 'Eight Millimeters' yet?"
"Augh, no! I can't stand that
Nicholas Cage guy!" Clark groaned.
"'Carrie Two'?" the girl
offered.
Lois rolled her eyes. "We saw the original, thanks." She
glanced
behind her. The line was starting to get longer.
"What's the
hold up? muttered a man a few feet behind Lois and
Clark.
Lois turned
to glare at the man. "The movie I wanted to see is no
longer here, okay?
Maybe I could choose faster if I could get some
*quiet*!" She smiled
apologetically at the ticket girl. "Some people are
so rude."
"Well,
let's see," Clark mused. "All that's left is 'Cruel
Intentions' and a Disney
movie. Which one will it be, honey?"
Lois groaned. "Two for 'Cruel
Intentions'. I can't put up with
anything Disney right now."
Clark
laughed as he handed the girl the money. "Come on, Lois.
Let's go get some
popcorn."
**********
"I'm still not sure what this movie is
about," Lois said as she
and Clark entered the theater. She looked around at
the people already
seated. "Clark? Do you notice something about all of these
people?"
"Hmmm, let me think. They're all eating popcorn?" he
guessed.
"No."
"They're all sitting close to the
screen?"
"No."
"Well," he rubbed his chin, "I don't think that
*all* of them are
aliens." He smiled. "So I give up. What is wrong with them,
Lois?"
"Other than you and me, no one in here looks like
they've
graduated high school!!"
Clark surveyed the crowd. "That
couple over there looks like they
might be in college," he mused. He shut up
when Lois crossed her arms and
glared at him. "Okay, okay. So maybe this is a
teenager movie. I'm sure
we can find better things to do than watch. Jimmy
tells me that those
movable arm rests are really nice." He smiled.
Lois smiled back. "Why look! Here are some great seats in the
back
row!" She grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the seats. "Maybe
this won't
be so bad after all."
THE END
