Hi to everyone, and welcome to the new members! Please visit our website :)

http://members.aol.com/lovelc/folc.html

I have picked a winner of the trading cards contest! But since I'm kinda slow here, I haven't even let that person know they won, yet! So I will let them know, and then let all of YOU know who the winner is...in the next newsletter. :) Thanks to everyone who entered!

The Super Store bank accounts were updated this week, so PLEASE go over and have a look to see how many Superdollars you have! The link to the Super Store is on the website:)

Teri on The Tonight Show

Teri Hatcher was a guest on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on April 8th! I'm hoping you all recieved the memo we sent out, in time to watch or tape it. If not, here's what went on...

Teri was wearing a black dress, kind of tight, that went a little past her knees, and had spaghetti straps. On the skirt, to one side, was a somewhat large white flowered design. She was wearing black strappy shoes with heels. I'm sorry, I don't know the designer! ;)

When she came onstage, the band played that "Come to the Cabaret" song (hey, I haven't ever seen the play!) and she commented on it.

Then Jay complimented Teri on her lovely family, and asked her about her road trip.

Teri: "We moved to New York last summer, and my husband and I thought it would be a fun adventure to load up our jeep and just the three of us--[Emerson] was nine months old at the time, and Jon and I--we drove across the country. Of course, we did it sort of like a 'Z'...we drove 4800 miles."

Teri then went on to talk about how they said at a bunch of cheap motels (and went to Graceland! Perry would be proud!). One night, they even stayed in some guy's basement! The guy was really nice, but he didn't recognize Teri or Jon! :) They also got a book, called "Eating Your Way Across America", which helped them decide on the best little diners to eat at, all across the country.

It was a pretty short interview, but Teri looks great. Her hair is very short--like Lois in the first season, only straighter. And she's still her usual perky self. :)

Award Shows 101

As much as I thought I've shared this personal trait with the entire free world, many of my friends and readers do not know about my obsessive compulsion with Hollywood award shows. I'm talking about your Emmys, your Golden Globes, and the mother of all award shows, the Academy Awards. I watch all award shows. I let them sink in, I watch with rapt attention and delight until I achieve an out of body experience. My reasons for loving them so? Possibly the celebrity fashion show that comes with them. Maybe my own delusions of grandeur about winning an award myself. Or because I have an uncanny ability to memorize award show trivia (especially for the Oscars). Or the deep and spiritual appreciation I have for television and film. Oh, who cares, it's probably all of them.

But this passion of mine is about to become your daily lesson. The reason? Yesterday I was at work when a coworker of mine waddled by on her lunch break and asked about where I went to college and what I wanted to do. I told her Fashion Institute of Technology, degree in fashion design, want to do costume for TV and film, etc. and blah blah. She said, "Wow, costume for movies and stuff? You can win a Grammy for that, can't you?"

For those of you who do not see the error in her statement, this column is for you. When I heard her say that, my face turned hot and I couldn't see straight. My head started spinning like I was possessed, I was possibly foaming at the mouth, and I think I sprouted goat hooves. I almost calmly said, "Actually, that's the Oscars, or Academy Awards you can win for that in movies. You can also win an Emmy for it in television." Dumb cow didn't even blink. So I hope she reads this along with the rest of the awards-uninformed, and takes notes. There will be a test.

Academy Awards - Also known as Oscars, these are awards given out for outstanding work in the motion picture arts. Given out by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (A.M.P.A.S.) This past March 21st awards was the 71st annual show.

Golden Globes - A less formal awards ceremony which celebrates outstanding work in both movies and television. Given out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Emmys - The big show for television work. Awarded by the Academy for Television Arts and Sciences (A.T.A.S.).

Those are my big three. While I watch others such as the Grammys, Blockbuster Awards, MTV Movie and Music Video Awards, etc., I don't concentrate much effort into memorizing facts about them. Now I could literally write a book about the trivia I have amassed for the Oscars. They are the highlight of my year. Call me pathetic or psycho, but I dress up for them and spend the entire day before going over the data I have collected to handicap the odds on this year's nominees, watching preshow after preshow, and testing my wits against these so-called "experts" E! Entertainment Network puts on the air. They're amateurs. I'm the real deal. And to prove it and test the waters for my readers out there, I've put in a little test for your awards show knowledge. For the first person to answer the most or all correctly, I will write a column about them telling the world how amazing and spectacular they are. In print, and on my newsletter, and in as many mailboxes as you can forward it to. In addition, thanx to our lovely editor Molly, you will receive an L&C 8x10 photo. Beware - most of these questions are not easy. There's at least one trick question in the mix.

Good luck!
1. Who was the first president of A.M.P.A.S.?
2. Last year at the Oscars, Titanic tied the record for most nominations as well as the record for most wins. Name the films it tied with.
3. Last year at the Golden Globes, Ving Rhames gave his award to Jack Lemmon. Name the category of the award, and the nominated work both actors did.
4. What was the first film to win the Best Picture Oscar? (Bonus to anyone who picks up the catch in this question)
5. What musical was won the most Oscars?
6. What film did Audrey Hepbrun win a Best Actress award for? (Bonus if you can name the other films she was nominated for)
7. Who designed Jennifer Lopez's dress at the Oscars this year?
8. Usually, the Best Director Oscar is awarded to the director of the winner of Best Picture. Not this year, with the Speilberg/Shakespeare In Love split. When's the last time this happened - name the year, and winning director and picture.
9. This year, Fernanda Montenegro was the second South American thespain to receive an Oscar nomination (for Best Actress). Who was the first - name the person, year, and film it was for.
10. Who holds the record for most ACTING Oscar nominations?
11. Who holds the most Oscar nominations of any living person?
12. What foreign-language film holds the record for most Oscar nominations?
13. Before Life is Beautiful, what was the last foreign language film to receive a Best Picture Oscar nomination?
14. Shakespeare in Love is the sixth film ever to earn 13 Oscar nominations. Name the other five.
15. What film did Alfred Hitchcock receive a Best Picture and Director Oscar nomination for?

That's it. Send the responses in the LadyFoLC@aol.com - just answer as many as you can! All answers can be found with a little research. Good luck!

Kerth Awards
By: Cristin
CKandLL4ever@Juno.com

Okay so the Kerths are over. Yes, I KNOW that they've been over for quite some time now. See, I had some technical difficulties. Oh, and I procrastinated too. Anyway, weren't they just peachy? I thought so.

Miss Molly already told you the winners. Frankly, if you don't know who won by now, you must be out of the loop. ;o) One of the things I liked most about the Kerths was the speeches made by the presenters. Some of them were SO eloquent! Our own Maggie quoted L&C when she presented. Molly talked about episode adaptations. Some of the presenters improvised on the spot while some planned ahead. In any case, they were all great.

Another great thing was the support given to the winners. The many FoLCs hanging in #KerthChat started congratulating the winner or winners right as they were announced. It was especially funny to see them yell for someone not there. FoLCs are one big family. This was very evident on Kerth night.

I also enjoyed how the Kerths brought out so many newbies to IRC! I am basically an IRC addict. I saw so many new nicknames at the Kerths and even a week before! Not all of them have stuck around and become IRCers, but some have. That's cool. :o)

In, well, conclusion I guess (Short article!), the Kerths were cool. Now we all have to go write some more Kerthworty stories. What are you waiting for? Get to it!!!

Trivia!

Last week's question was...in which episode does Perry fake a heart attack?

The answer is..."Fly Hard"! That is the episode where bad guys take over the Daily Planet and take Clark, Lois, Lex, Perry, and Jack hostage.

The first person to answer correctly was...EllieNora!
Our random winner (since over 5 people answered correctly) was...DRoskam! You both will get 50 superdollars!
Also, way to go to folc4fr, ErinFOLC, LoisLane59, MandyC, Kirshnera, MelRaymond, LadyFOLC, and Emily!! And if I left anyone out--yay to you too!

This week's question is...Name the episode that this quote came from...

"You bring the bagels."

Come on, it's not *that* tough! Send your answers to me at lovelc@aol.com!

What's On? TV & Movie News
by Molly

Lately I've been trying to figure out the hype that is the "Star Wars" Prequel. All the SW fans keep saying "This movie will make more money than 'Titanic!' Hahaha!" Well, good for them if it does, but not one of them has ever said, "This movie is going to be better than 'Titanic'!" Of course, maybe it's supposed to be a given, I'm not totally sure. And maybe I am a shame to my generation because I started daydreaming about L&C while watching "Star Wars", I've never seen "The Empire Strikes Back", and as for "Return of the Jedi"? Well...I think a Jedi returns or something, I don't know, have you seen it? Maybe you know better than I do.

But that movie doesn't come out for another month or so, so in the meantime, there are plenty of other less-hyped movies to go see. Like..."Never Been Kissed". And, you know me, I just had to see all the L&C connections. Like--Drew Barrymore stars in this movie. And she is also in "Best Men" with Dean. Cress Williams (Baron Sunday, in "Never On Sunday") and Sean Whalen (Skip, from "SuperMann") both have large parts in this movie, and thirdly? Themes.

1) In "Never Been Kissed", the whole point is that Josie (Drew Barrymore) kind of becomes a high schooler, so she can get a story for the paper she works for. And no, it's not The Daily Planet.

2) Josie's cute teacher gives a lecture about Shakespeare and about how disguises can kind of set you free. Josie totally gets it because, well, she's in disguise. Sort of like how Clark can do his whole superpowers thing when he's in his SuperSuit because no one's going to recongnize him.

Anyway, it's a good movie. There's another movie out there, called "Ten Things I Hate About You", which I have not seen yet, but one of the supporting stars is David Leisure, aka Spencer Spencer from L&C's "Ordinary People".

And "Best Men"--if you have not seen it, GO RENT IT! Please! And send me comments (lovelc@aol.com) so we can put them in a future newsletter! Did you love it? Did you hate it? Was Dean hot, or what? Share your every thought! You can even remain anonymous if you want.

Random Thoughts
by Rachel

I was listening to the Lois and Clark soundtrack this evening, and I thought it would be cool if I knew how to play the theme song on my trumpet. So my mom and I sat down at the piano, played it approximately five times, and picked the tune out.
I thought it was really cool, and I thought that perhaps that the people who play instruments would like to know how it goes.
This is in the key of C, or Concert B flat, whichever you prefer. You may have to change the notes around to fit your instrument. Here's how it goes:

C B A E A G D

A B C B A E D C E F G B C

G A B flat A G D C B flat D E flat F A B flat (when you get here, you play lower on the scale)

F G A flat B flat A flat E flat G

second time: F G A flat B flat C

(here's some sort of interlude before the melody starts up again)

start over at the beginning, except when you get to the last line, instead of playing the last three notes (A flat E flat G), you play a C. Which one you may ask? That particular one of two octaves above middle C on a piano. The note you start out on in the first line is one octave above middle C on a piano.

All in all, it's pretty cool once you get it. If you can't figure that jumble of notes out, either listen to the soundtrack and practice it on the piano, or e-mail me, and I'll try and help you out.

Good luck!

-Rachel (LCWSnutbag@aol.com)

P.S. Remember that the notes above are for a B flat trumpet...you may have to change the notes according to the key of your instrument
